The story
Bone carving is one of the oldest art forms in the Marianas. Archaeological finds at Latte stone sites across Saipan and Tinian show bone pendants nearly identical in form to this one — worn as personal adornment and as markers of lineage.
This pendant is carved from ethically sourced bone using traditional hand tools. The form — a tapered oval with a single carved groove — is drawn directly from pre-contact Chamorro jewelry documented in the collections of the CNMI Museum of History and Culture.
